TBRI®
If you’re involved in the life of a child who has experienced trauma, Trust Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) can help you bring hope and healing.
What is Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI)?
Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) was developed by the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University. Listed on the California Clearinghouse for Evidence Based practices, TBRI® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® educates and equips caregivers with knowledge and skills that empower them to provide healing care for a child who has experienced trauma. In addition to successful use by families, TBRI® has been used in multiple settings to effect change, including intensive home programs, residential treatment centers, and schools.
Crossroads & TBRI®
As a TBRI® Ambassador Organization, Crossroads partners with the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development to offer multi-disciplinary training to caregivers, professionals and other child welfare stakeholders in Louisiana. We also provide consulting and coaching to agencies wishing to implement TBRI® throughout their programming.
What is a “TBRI® Practitioner”?
TBRI® Practitioners are individuals who have successfully completed TBRI® Practitioner Training, a comprehensive two-part training hosted by the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development. The TBRI® Practitioner Training experience is designed to prepare practitioners for working with children, families, and in systems of care impacted by trauma.
It includes 10-weeks of online coursework and a one-week intensive in-person training. Upon completing Practitioner Training, practitioners are able to use, train and implement TBRI® within their professional capacity.
TBRI® Practitioners are a diverse group of professionals, including therapists, caseworkers, foster and adoption care specialists, occupational therapists, medical professionals, counselors, CASA representatives, early childhood and development specialists, and many others throughout child welfare. Crossroads provides ongoing support, coaching, and coordination of the network of TBRI® Practitioners across the state.
