Families Need Support

At Crossroads, we want to ensure that no family fosters alone, so we aim to provide a community of support so you and the children you care for can thrive.

Currently Fostering?

Don’t foster alone! If you are already a certified foster family through DCFS, you can access our support services by joining our Foster Family Network.

Families Need Support

  • We believe foster parents should not only be passionate about what they do – but they should be competent as well. We offer trainings on Trust-Based Relational Intervention®, an evidence-based caregiving model that gives parents the knowledge and skills they need to bring hope and healing to the lives of children in their care. All trainings are approved by DCFS for foster parent continuing education credits.

  • Crossroads has a partnership with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) that allows us to assist and support families as they move through the certification process. Once a family has been certified by DCFS, we provide a variety of support services, which include trainings, resources, and other forms of support throughout the foster care/adoption experience. Our Foster Care and Adoption Support Team works to build relationships with each foster family – providing support and resources as children are placed in the home by DCFS.

  • Family Partners provide the day-to-day practical support that foster families often need as they care for children. Crossroads provides training and support for Family Partners as they help foster families on their journey.

  • Family Nights are a casual and fun meet up for our foster/adoptive families. We meet up at a local church, park, or playground and provide dinner, giving our families the opportunity to connect with one another.

  • Sometimes foster parents just need a break! We partner with local churches to provide a morning or evening out for foster/adoptive parents - the church provides fun activities for kids, while foster parents go on a date, go to the grocery store without kids, or sit at home and enjoy the silence!

  • Foster parents need to spend the first hours and days that a child is in their home doing what only they can do – connecting with the child and making him feel safe and loved! Someone else needs to worry about cooking dinner, and there are people within our local churches who want to serve foster families in this way. We mobilize these individuals by activating an online meal train for families when a new child enters the home, have one parent out of town, or are working through a transition or difficult period with a child.

  • This TBRI® focused day camp is specially designed to meet the needs of kids who have experienced early childhood trauma. It’s one week of connecting, empowering, and correcting through the lens of TBRI®. At camp, our goal is to give children an environment where they can learn and grow, expand tools in their toolbox to connect with others, empower themselves, and develop healthy relationships. Camp also provides foster parents with some refreshing time “off” where you know your kids are in a safe place that understands their needs.
